Update 11/24/2020: If the card you used to purchase your ticket(s) is now cancelled or expired, please contact your bank to inquire about how they will process a refund to that card. Most banks will still deposit the refund to your account if you still hold an account with them. However, as banks differ please contact your bank for confirmation about this. If they tell you otherwise, please send us an email at registration@otafest.com with your name, order number, and description of your issue. We will work out alternative solutions on a case-by-case basis.

Dear Otafest Community,

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones well.

Back in March 2020, we made the difficult decision to postpone Otafest until May 21-23, 2021, in hopes that the COVID-19 global pandemic would be behind us. As we enter into the 2021 festival planning cycle, it’s with a heavy heart that we announce that Otafest 2021 will be cancelled. As a not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization, our volunteer staff members require a significant amount of time to organize and put on the festival that you all know and love. With current Alberta Health Services (AHS) restrictions not yet permitting major festivals and concerts, large conferences and events from taking place, and an unknown amount of time around when such events will be allowed, we aren’t confident we will be able to safely put on the same caliber of event that our community has come to expect.

To this end, refunds will be issued to all ticket holders of Otafest 2020/2021. Service fees are non-refundable.

If it’s not a hardship to you, we kindly request that you consider donating the cost of your Otafest 2020/2021 ticket towards us. Every dollar of your donation will go directly into making Otafest happen in future years. Please note you must actively opt-in to donating your ticket using https://otafest.com/donate by November 30th, 2020.

After this date, refunds will be automatically issued to all ticket holders who have not opted-in to donating their tickets.

  • Tickets that were purchased via credit card will be automatically refunded.
  • Tickets that were purchased with cash or interac debit during in-person events, please use https://otafest.com/cash, and we will refund via e-transfer.
  • Holders of complimentary tickets to Otafest 2020/2021 will receive a link for complimentary tickets to Otafest 2022. This will be done closer to the dates of the Otafest 2022 festival.
  • We request your patience as we work with our business partners to issue these refunds. We intend for all refunds to be issued by the end of January 2021.

Artist tables and exhibitor booths will also be automatically refunded, by the end of January 2021. Service fees are non-refundable.

Hotel rooms booked through the Marriott Downtown Calgary Hotel were already cancelled in March 2020.

We thank you for your support and understanding.

Please note that it is the Otafest Planning Committee’s intention to put on smaller-scale and virtual/online opportunities for our community to come together and celebrate in 2021, as allowed by AHS guidelines. We note that these guidelines currently do include 100 people max indoor-seated audience events, 200 people outdoor-seated audience events, as well as trade shows and exhibits. The Otafest team is very excited to get to work on planning these opportunities – please look for future announcements!

Thank you for your understanding. With everyone’s cooperation to stopping the spread of COVID-19, we hope to be able to see everyone once again for Otafest 2022, currently slated to occur May 20-22, 2022, at the Calgary Telus Convention Centre & Marriott Downtown Calgary Hotel.

With hope,

Jenny Chan
