Otafest is home to cosplayers of all ages! Pose for photos with some of the hundreds of beautifully costumed attendees in the hall, on Stephen Avenue, or in Olympic plaza, or attend one of our popular cosplay events.
Cosplay Skit Contest & Fashion Show | Saturday , Main Events
This is always one of the biggest events of any convention, and certainly the most popular here at Otafest! Come and see the results of folks’ creativity as they pay tribute to their favourite anime characters through costumes. This is a highlight for many festival attendees!

Do you have aspiring costumers or fashion designers in your family? Meet Calgary’s cosplayers and learn about their passion at these interactive exhibits!

Free family activities on Stephen Ave
Remember Plasma Cars? Ever wanted to drive them in a live action video game race in the middle of downtown Calgary? Then Live Action Mario Cart is for you! Come on down and compete to win the Mushroom cup – or cheer on your favorite cosplayers from the sidelines!
Plus you can enjoy a plethora live, FREE family-friendly entertainment and activities on Stephen Avenue, including performances on an outdoor stage, children’s crafts, games, face-painting, balloon animals and a photobooth!

Buy Japanese food and drink from Otafest’s own Maid Café, supported by Calgary’s Oguraya Bakery and Shogun food truck, or hop up to the Marriott patio for our infamous ramen bar (festival wristband required), open until 6pm. There will be also traditional festival garb to try on at the photo booth courtesy of nanao kimono, and Japanese festival games to try your luck at!

Let’s get down to business and belt out some classic tunes! As per Zootopia PD’s Mammal Inclusion Initiative, everyone is welcome!
Come one, come all to The Voices of Anarchy general audience live improv comedy show! We’ll run you through 90 minutes of short form, unscripted, and off the walls comedy just the way your momma used to make… you avoid. Except since it’s all ages, she can come too! Lead by voice actor and improv veteran Will Wood, this group of young, comedic men and women are excited to perform for you for the first time at Otafest!
Buy your weekend pass online to Otafest 2019!Youth ages 6-12 can attend Otafest for only $10 for the full weekend. Children under 6 are free when accompanied by an adult.
