Do you love performing? Strutting your stuff on stage and letting everyone hear your incredible voice? Then do you think you have what it takes to become Otafest’s best vocalist? The Ota Factor welcomes all who want to give their best performance and sing their hearts out!
You will perform the same song for both the preliminaries and, if you qualify, the finals.
Preliminaries: The time and location will be communicated to you closer to Otafest. Please show up 30 minutes before the start of the contest so we can double check your track and determine performance order. The judges will score you on a variety of different criteria such as tone, timing, and stage presence. The top contestants will move onto the finals. There will be a short time period after all performances where you will be allowed to converse with our panel of judges about your performance.
Finals: The finals are held in Otafest’s Main Events room (time TBA). Finalists must arrive 30 minutes prior to show time to do a sound check on stage and determine performance order. After the performances, the judges will deliberate and prizes will be awarded. The winner of Best vocalist will get to perform at Otafest’s Closing Ceremonies!
Otafest acknowledges that the land we gather on is the traditional territory of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani and Kainai First Nations), as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations). The City of Calgary is also the home of the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
